seconds

I’m running late

after three loops around the block,
I finally find a space 

it’s not big or wide
but I squeeze my way in 

I don’t run or jog, but walk
with composure

a couple walks towards me
holding hands

the man, tall, tan, not so handsome,
and sporting a ridiculous haircut

the woman, short, tan, not too pretty,
has long brown hair and quite an ass

as I walk past, I give the man a nod,
not so fast and not so slow

he returns, then proceeds to speak
to his lady

but his lady happens to be looking at me
with eyes that say more than words

and by the time me and the man
are side by side

she has her head behind his shoulder,
and her eyes, insatiably, remain on me

and I can’t help but to smile,
with just the corner of my mouth

then I mouth a silent greeting,
just to see what she will do 

she sucks in her lips and looks away
for just a second, to check on the man

the man, the fool, chatting away
into the depths of oblivion 

she comes back to me, for just a second,
and returns the same silent greeting

but this time sneaky and desperate,
dirty and cheap

insulting me, and forcing my eyes
to look away

for just a second…

her eyes are gone,
and I watch that ass leave

then they are all gone,
and I’ve been left standing here

thinking, my god,
what a remarkable slut.
